چکیده

The hair follicle is a complete mini-organ that lends itself as a model for investigation of a variety of complex biological phenomena, including stem cell biology, organ regeneration and cloning. The arrector pili muscle inserts into the hair follicle at the level of the bulgethe epithelial stem cell niche. The arrector pili muscle has been previously thought to be merely a bystander and not to have an active role in hair disease. Computer generated 3D reconstructions of the arrector pili muscle have helped explain why women with androgenetic alopecia (AGA) experience diffuse hair loss rather than the patterned baldness seen in men. Loss of attachment between the bulge stem cell population and the arrector pili muscle also explains why miniaturization is irreversible in AGA but not alopecia areata. A new model for the progression of AGA is presented. Rodney Sinclair ( ) Corresponding author: [email protected] Sinclair R, Torkamani N and Jones L. The convergence between diagnostic methods in women with non-scarring hair loss

Background: Hair loss is a major cause of dermatology visits resulting in considerable anxiety and distress for patients. The objective of the current research was to investigate the association among various diagnostic methods related to non-scarring hair loss in women. Methods: After obtaining the complete history, clinical examination was carried out on women suffering from diffuse nonscaring...

Minoxidil in combination with Tretinoin vs. Minoxidil in the treatment of male androgenic alopecia: A randomized, double-blind, parallel clinical trial

Background: Minoxidil is currently an approved treatment for androgenetic alopecia. Topical tretinoin can enhance skin absorption of minoxidil. Objective: This study has been done in order to determine the efficacy and safety of the solution of 0.5% minoxidil+0.05% tretinoin compared to 2% minoxidil in androgenetic alopecia in men. Patients and Methods: In a randomized, double-blind, parallel-g...

Immunohistochemical analysis of T-cell subsets in the inflammatory infiltrates of alopecia areata and its comparison with androgenetic alopecia

Background: Androgenic hair loss (AGA) and alopecia areata (AA) are common conditions which sometimes are histologically difficult to differentiate. This study was conducted to detect differentiating features of these two disorders with IHC analysis of T-cell subsets in the inflammatory infiltrates of alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia. Methods: This cr...

Is there any relationship between cardiovascular disease and androgenetic alopecia in men and women?

Background: Worldwide, coronary heart disease is the most important cause of mortality and morbidity. Although numerous studies have documented the relationship between male pattern baldness and cardiovascular disease (CVD), few studies focused on this association in women. This study intended to evaluate the relationship between coronary artery disease and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in ...
